Whimsical Folk Art Carving

Made by Michael Cribbins (1837-1917).
Lake Orion, Michigan.
Carved willow or maple, some black paint, ca. 1880-1900.
The carving is inscribed, Emerancer. C., Cribbins, Mike.
The carved is also identified as “Orion Mike” and known for his cared walking sticks.
This piece depicts a seated figure, boar’s head, alligator head, faces and clasping hand.
Over-all in great condition with a wonderful patina.
Provenance: From a prominent collection, Denver, CO; Smith Auctions, Plainfield, NH.
