Oil on canvas, 14 ¼” x 20 ½”, 17 ½” x 24” in frame.
Over-all in great condition, appears to retain the original carved gilt-wood frame.

Walter Bracket is best known for his fish and game still life painting. In 1873 he exhibited four fish paintings at the Crystal Palace in London which helped establish his career and reputation as an important 19th c. American painter of fish still life. He exhibited at the Boston Athenaeum (1846-1869), the Apollo Association (1852), and the National Academy of Design (1860 and 1865).
