Thomas Henry Hope was best known for his still life paintings in the trompe l’oeil style, reminiscent of William Harnett and John Peto. Hope settled in Philadelphia around 1865 and graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1881. This still life of peaches, grapes and a wine glass exhibit the stylistic features of Hope’s work.
