Barbados, ca. 1850-1875. Mahogany case, pine back, shells, lined with paper. The octagonal case is fitted with a symmetrically beautiful arrangement of shells with a heart and nautical star motif. These larger examples are rarer to find especially in this remarkable state of preservation. Condition: Retaining an old dry finish which is probably the original, glass probably replaced along with a few pieces of moldings.
