Rosella S. Elliott
Still Life with a Large Assortment of Fruit
Signed and dated (l.l.): Rosella S. Elliott, 1871
Oil on canvas
24 1/8″ x 32 1/2″
Fine condition, stable craquelure, very minor in-painting along edges from frame abrasion. (see full condition report by Tom Yost).
Most likely influenced by Severin Roesen (1815-1872)
this painting by Elliott has a more folky manner to it. The arrangement of the fruit on tiered ledges, the flowing tendrils in the background and the glass of water magnifying the lemon peel are attributes which are commonly seen in Roesen’s work.
