Rare Diminutive Settle Bench

Diminutive Size Settle Bench, New England, ca. 1780-1800. Eastern white pine with paint surface. Excellent condition, retains an early grain painted surface, minor shrinkage cracks to the backs of the panels. The four stages of inset panels and the lift top seat are features found on transitional settle benches from the late 18th century into the early 19th century. Originally found on Cape Cod.
