Rare Classical Paint-Decorated Sewing Table

Mahogany and rosewood, pine secondary wood.
Over-all in excellent condition, original paint-decorated top and base, minor joint repairs and wear. Provenance: Peter Eaton Antiques, Newbury, MA; De-accessioned from American Folk Art Museum, NY. The elaborate and intricately painted top depicting floral sprays and seashells opens to an upholstered compartment supported by a lyre-form base above a platform with saber legs ending on brass paw feet.
