Queen Anne Flat Top Highboy

Queen Anne Flat Top Highboy, Connecticut. Ca. 1750. Maple, sycamore, white pine secondary. Fine condition, retains original cast brass, one minor lip drawer repair and one replaced backboard on the upper case. Retains a mahoganized 19th century finish. More commonly found in earlier examples, the top case has two drawers above three graduated drawers; the lower case is fitted with a waist molding above a long drawer and three smaller drawers. The central drawer is carved with a concave lobed pedal fan which conforms to the shape of the skirt. The piece is supported by graceful cabriole legs highlighted with carving ending on pad feet. Descended through the Ford family, Farmington, CT, 1955. Private Connecticut family to present date.
