Pedestal Stand
SOLD
Rare Diminutive Round Top Pedestal Table, attributed to the workshop of Duncan Phyfe, New York, ca. 1810-1820.
Mahogany, crotch mahogany veneer, poplar, white pine and mahogany woods secondary. Excellent condition, very minor repairs to some veneer at the base, refinished. The drawer is constructed with the finest quality of dovetails using mahogany for the drawers sides and bottom. This use of mahogany as a secondary wood is associated with pieces from the Phyfe workshop. Probably used for a piece of sculpture, the top is dished with a drawer below flanked by lyres and supported by a smaller pedestal on turned feet. The size of this form appears to be unique.
