Paint-Decorated Dresser Box
New England, ca. 1820
Over-all in excellent condition, slight warp to the top and minor wear to the paint-decoration associated to age-related oxidation. Original bun feet.

This rare box was most likely decorated by a female academy artist. The top depicts a wonderful compote of fruit flanked by flower-filled cornucopias with similar fruit arrangements decorated on the front and sides. The lid opens to a fitted interior having a removeable tray with its original dividers and a mirror. The interior tray is decorated with black floral and foliate designs.
