Miniature Sponge-Paint-Decorated Blanket Chest

Probably Pennsylvania, ca. 1830
Pine with polychrome paint, hardwood feet.
In virtually untouched original condition, retaining original varnish over original paint.
This desirable miniature blanket chest with a lift lid and a dovetailed case is supported by turned, block and ball feet. The exuberant orange and yellow sponge-paint decoration has survived in a remarkable state.
