Marble Top Serving Table

Southern states, probably Georgia, early 19th c.
Walnut frame, molded-edge marble top.
Over-all in great condition; some discoloration to marble top, base appears to retain original surface.
The table is accompanied with a note; “Purchased from David Duggin, July 9, 1997 from Woodbury, Tenn. The table was given as a wedding gift, for Otis M. Dover, Pickens County, Georgia, maker Rubin Fields.”
Provenance: Private Southern collector, Leland Little Auctions, Hillsborough, NC.
The walnut frame is constructed with inset skirt rails and supported by tall tapered legs with lightly chamfered corners. The frame is secured with forged rose-head nails suggesting its rural origins.
