Late Federal Child’s Size Chest of Drawers

Mid-Atlantic Region, probably Pennsylvania
Ca. 1830
Cherry with birds-eye maple and mahogany veneers, poplar and pine secondary woods.
Over-all in fine condition, customary shrinkage and minor repairs to some mahogany veneer.
This diminutive, child’s size chest of drawers displays all the fancy features found on high formal Federal furniture. The alternating use of dark crotch mahogany veneer banding and light birds-eye maple paneling gives it great appeal. The refinement of the cabinetry and choice of woods suggest it was made by a recognizable and notable cabinet-maker.
