Horse and Rider Weathervane
SOLD
Attributed to A.L. Jewell & Company, Massachusetts.
Ca. 1860.
Full body molded copper, sheet copper.
Over-all in fine-condition, restoration to tip of hat and reins. Wonderful verdigris surface and traces of old paint.
A pleasing sculptural form and perhaps made by an earlier manufacturer which Jewell made popular by the late 1860’s. With rider and tail intact, this example has survived the natural elements remarkably well, as also seen with this wonderful oxidized surface.
