Upon arriving in America, Hermann Fueschel opened his first studio in New York City around 1858. Having attended the Dusseldorf Academy at the same time as Albert Bierstadt (1830-1902), Fueschel later joined his studio, along with Worthington Whittredge and Emanuel Luetze, on 15 Tenth Street, New York in 1882. This view of a glacier lake with figures on a boat exemplifies Fueschel’s talents as an accomplished artist working alongside some of the most recognized Hudson River School painters of the day.
