Harriet Whitney Frishmuth had an exceptional talent for capturing both action and form in her subjects and conveying them through her art. With formal training from Auguste Rodin and Gutzon Borglum and being inspired by Beaux Arts style, Frishmuth continued creating finely modeled pieces. The Vine, is perhaps on of the most iconic examples of her work with 396 casts of this small version, by far the largest edition of any of her works. The dancer, Desha Delteil, was perhaps Harriet’s favorite model and was the subject for many of her best known pieces which include, The Vine.
Frishmuth’s work can be seen in most major museums throughout America and abroad. She is considered one of the most inspirational and talented artists of the early 20th century.
