Folk Art Octagonal Top Inlaid Game Table

American, probably coastal New England, mid-19th c.
Cherry and walnut, various woods for inlay.
Over-all in great condition, minor shrinkage and refitting to some inlay on the top.
Provenance: Estate of Peter H. Tillou, Litchfield, CT.
The octagonal top is fitted with an inlaid playing surface surrounded by marquetry scenes depicting windmills, American eagles and related motifs. The tilt-top is supported by a turned, faceted shaft with diamond inlay patterns highlighted with ebony, ending on snake feet with repeating diamond inlay patterns.
