Federal Scrolled Arm Sofa, Massachusetts, North Shore, probably Salem.                     Ca. 1810-1820. Mahogany, mahogany veneer, maple and pine secondary. Excellent condition, virtually no restoration to the frame, minor repair to one turning ring on outer leg, retains original casters, old refinished surface. The crest is divided into three sections with crotch mahogany veneer flanked by reeded scrolled arms and supported by bulbous turned reeded supports. The legs are finely turned with reeding and ending on brass cup casters.
