Full body molded copper, sheet copper, cast zinc head and feet, iron armature.
Over-all in excellent condition, minor imperfections due to age, natural weathering and use. No restoration or replacements. Original oxidized verdigris surface.
Provenance: From a prominent New York Collection; Olde Hope Antiques, New Hope, Pennsylvania.
One of the most recognizable forms in early American weathervane manufacturing is an eagle with swept back wings and an imposing cast zinc head, made by A.L. Jewell and Co., who were one of the original pioneers in the industry.
