“Dexter” Horse Weathervane

American, probably New England, ca. 1875-1890.
Copper, copper tubing, cast zinc head.
Excellent condition, virtually untouched with traces of the original gilt surface with verdigris showing through. A few old bullet holes are filled.
This well defined example of a Dexter horse is a desirable form by collectors. The surface is in a remarkable state of preservation.
Provenance: Found in Vermont.
