New England, ca. 1790-1810. Eastern white pine, painted surface. Condition: Original Robin’s egg blue paint, original hardware, untouched condition with minor losses. Not only is the form rare but to find such a utilitarian piece in untouched original condition with original paint is equally rare. The original Robin’s egg blue paint has oxidized to a slate-gray color.
