Chippendale Pie-Crust Tea Table
Probably English, ca. 1770-1785.
Mahogany.
Fine condition, minor repairs to lip edges, retaining a wonderful, old historic varnish finish.
Superbly carved, this table captures many features we see on American tea tables or candlestands having swirl, urn-form carved shafts with acanthus carved knees, terminating into elongated carved ball and claw feet. The exceptional quality of the figured mahogany one board top is also a very desirable feature. 28″ h., 26 1/4 x 26 3/4″ dia. (top). Provenance: private collection, Cleveland, Ohio, ca. 1965.
