Chippendale Corner Chair

American, probably Boston, MA area, ca. 1760-1775. Branded: WF. Walnut, slip seat frame appears to be gum wood. Excellent condition, no repairs, customary wear. This transitional Chippendale chair has a rounded, molded crest rail with shaped arms above solid, shaped splats with turned stiles. The molded seat frame is carved with cupid’s-bow motifs on all four sides and supported by three straight Chippendale legs and a front cabriole leg carved with acanthus leaf and volute decoration ending on a disc-form pad foot.
