Chippendale Carved Side Chair

Philadelphia, ca. 1765-1780.

Mahogany, pine seat frame.

A wonderful example having a shaped, carved crest rail with a shell flanked by volutes and swept back ears above a carved pierced splat flanked by fluted stiles and a trapezoid slip-seat frame supported by cabriole legs with shell carved knees ending on carved ball and claw feet.

Condition: Excellent condition, original slip-seat, customary wear.
