Chippendale Candlestand

Connecticut, Hartford County, ca. 1790. Applewood.
Over-all in excellent condition, traces of a red wash, now with old refinished surface.
Provenance: Private collection, Connecticut; Schwenke Auctioneers, Woodbury, CT.
A fine example of a Connecticut candlestand having a under-beveled serpentine top with ovolo corners, often seen of Chapin School stands, supported by an urn-form turned shaft, ending on snake feet.
