Carved Tableau of Birds Perched on Stumps

Probably mid-western, possibly Wisconsin, ca. 1900.
Walnut. Over-all in excellent condition, one re-glued bird wing, otherwise untouched, retaining original varnish finish.
This fabulous, whimsical folk-art carving of song birds perched on tree stumps and branches has an endearing quality to it. The depiction of a fox nestled into the stump further adds to its appeal.
