Black Hawk Weathervane

Ca. 1875-1890. Sheet copper, copper tubing cast zinc ears. This trotting horse is commonly known as the Blackhawk, a popular breed of horse sold by the Blackhawk Family of Weare, New Hampshire, first advertised for sale in 1859. Condition: In virtually untouched original condition with traces of original gilt. Some wear to vertical bar. Wonderful verdigris surface now showing through.
