George Bottume was principally a painter of portraits, although he is known to have completed several landscapes. He studied under Soloman Fanning in New York before returning to Connecticut where he worked until moving to Springfield, Massachusetts, where he worked until his death.
Woodbridge Farm is a historic 150-acre property in Salem, Connecticut developed by Nathaniel Woodbridge in 1791. The property has remained in the same family for most of its history, with the exception of a 50-year span when it was sold outside the family. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
