A Rare Early Rooster Weathervane
SOLD
American, probably Pennsylvania, ca. 1860.
Molded sheet copper and iron, contemporary wooden base.
Great condition with an exceptional oxidized surface.
This early hand made rooster weathervane pre-dates the manufactured examples we normally see and can be considered folk art. The riveted re-enforced pieces on the tail appear to be original.
