Rare and Possibly Unique Transitional Chippendale Balloon Seat Side Chair

Provenance: From a private Virginia collection, purchased from a New England dealer in the early 1980s.
This rare chair has the combination of an unusually carved and pierced Chippendale splat and carved crest rail above a balloon seat and block and turned stretches typically found in the Queen Anne period. This chair appears to be one of a set.
