Chippendale Paint-Decorated Blanket Chest

Poplar and white pine, polychrome paint decoration.
Over-all in fine condition; retaining original paint and oval cast brasses. Minor wear and losses to feet commensurate to age and use. One inch strip on the back edge of top restored.

This Chippendale blanket chest is most notable for its exuberant grain paint-decorated surface, which has survived in a remarkable state of preservation. The lid opens to an interior fitted with a till having a dove-tailed case above three drawers supported by ogee bracket feet.
