Cast fire gilt bronze mounted on a circular wooden base.
Fine condition, wonderful oxidized gilt surface, minor wear commensurate to age and use.
Provenance: Ex-collection Senator Kenneth Royal, Sr., 56th Secretary of Defense, President Harry Truman’s Cabinet; Private Collection.
A finial of an eagle formerly in the office of Secretary of War, Kenneth Royal. This patriotic eagle with outstretched wings perched on a half sphere was most likely mounted on a large flag pole.
