Carved Hanging Wall Pocket

Over-all in great condition, retaining original varnish with some losses.
Provenance: Thomas Rawson Antiques, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
This unusual and probably unique carved wall pocket with a reticulated triangle-pattern back and canted front centered with a carved owl has wonderful symmetry to the network of patterns. The sides showing a cross suggest it may have been used in a place of worship.
