Painted Blanket Chest

Rare Paint Decorated Blanket Chest, probably Schoharie County, New York State, ca. 1790-1810. White pine with painted surface.  In a wonderful state of preservation, retains the original paint and is in virtually untouched condition.  Paint decorated with an eagle surrounded by a wreath flanked by potted flowers.  The chest has a lift top with a till in the interior and is supported by shoe feet which are original.
