Queen Anne Flat-Top Highboy

Connecticut, Probably Wethersfield
Ca. 1750-1775
Cherry; Secondary wood: eastern white pine

This fine example exhibits great proportions to the case with finely executed twin carved fans. These attributes are more commonly found from cabinet shops within the vicinity of Hartford County.
The upper case has a cove molded cornice above a carved fan drawer flanked by two smaller drawers above four graduated drawers with thumb-nail molded drawer lips. The lower case is fitted with a waist molding above a drawer with a central carved fan drawer below flanked by drawers. The well-defined cyma shaped skirt seen here is typically found on pieces from the Wethersfield area. The case is supported by graceful cabriole legs ending on pad feet.
