Paint Decorated Work Table

New England, probably Vermont or New Hampshire. Ca. 1820-1835. White pine with painted surface. In a rare size, this diminutive one drawer work table has a rectangular over-hung top and is supported by tapered turned cylindrical legs ending on turned button feet. The mustard color grain paint is outlined with double yellow and green stripes forming panels on the top, drawer front and sides. Condition: The fracture to the front left leg probably occurred in the making of the table, the original paint decoration is in a fine state of preservation with only minor loss.
