Chippendale Blocked-Front Secretary

Condition: Fine condition, retaining the original flame finials. One replaced backboard on uppercase, replaced brass with minor shrinkage cracks to feet which are all original.
Provenance: Private Collection, Roxbury, CT, purchased, 1997.
The top portion has a closed bonnet-top above tomb-stone raised panel doors opening to a fitted interior resting on the desk top with waist molding. The lower portion has a slant-top desk lid opening to an amphitheater interior with valences above blocked drawers flanking a fan-carved central prospect door, all above four graduated blocked-front drawers supported by conforming bracket feet. Rare to find New England secretaries made from native cherry wood.
